Famous Classic Music Composers

Classical music has entertained and swayed the emotions of people for generations. It was one of the earliest ways artists used to express their emotions. While the term “Classical music” is used to denote the various types of cultural music from different places in the past, the term nowadays mostly refers to the Classical period in Europe from the early 1700s to the early 1800s. This period contained a wide variety of influential composers that pioneered and innovated in music. It also gave birth to many musical instruments such as the violin, cello, and the modern guitar.

Ludwig van Beethoven

He was a German composer and pianist that is widely considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time. He built upon the works of Joseph Haydn, his mentor, and Mozart. The music he produced included a lot of innovation and experimentation with emotional expression, a feature that influenced many composers in the Romantic Era that succeeded him. Some of his most famous works include Für Elise, Moonlight Sonata, and Symphony No. 9. Beethoven started to go deaf in later parts of his life but that did not stop his sheer dedication to the craft.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart was an Austrian composer, and just like Beethoven, is widely known and recognized for his work in classical Western music. He had an incredibly diverse range and excelled in almost all genres of music at that time. Some rumours suggest that he was able to play and write music from a very young age, not uncommon for a musical prodigy such as him. Some of his well-known works include Elvira Madigan and The Marriage of Figaro.

Richard Wagner

A brilliant composer and a controversial figure, Wagner revolutionized both opera and Western music as a whole, his works remain widely influential. His music most often contained dramatic compositions that were spread out skillfully throughout the piece. His most famous work is none other than the epic instrumental piece, Ride of the Valkyries.
